St Mary’s College RFC v TCRFC, in the Leinster Senior Cup, Saturday 6th September in Templeville Road.

Our 1st XV came out on top in the first D6w Derby of the year with a 15-27 victory away to our near neighbours.

Unsurprisingly there was no quarter given and the intensity and commitment on the field was clear to see.

There was an impressive crowd in attendance, to include Gerry Thornley who was covering the game and there was of course the presence of our new Head Coach Carlos Spencer.

Carlos arrived from New Zealand the previous day and received a warm welcome from everyone on the day. Not only were local bragging rights on the line, a place in the Leinster Senior Cup final was too – as both sides came into this game with a 100% record in the group phase.

Terenure’s fired-up pack regularly provided clean ball to our debutant no.9 Will Reilly, who in turn was able to unleash the backline.

Julian Leszczynski and Ethan Reilly linked up beautifully on several occasions, leading to 2 tries for Reilly, the first from a well-timed pass and the second a beautiful chip through – with Leszczynski providing the assist on both occasions.

Adam Lagrue scored our third try, expertly beating 3 players before dotting down, again the final pass was delivered by Leszczynski, who also added 12 points from the tee.

Next up for our 1st XV is Lansdowne FC in the final, this Saturday 13th September in the Energia Stadium, Donnybrook, KO is 4pm.
