What an extraordinary year it has been for Mini and Youth rugby at Terenure College RFC!
From the Under-6's taking their very first passes on Lakelands’ pitches to the Under-18's making their mark on the Leinster scene, our club has never been more vibrant or more successful.
This season saw over 450 boys and girls pulling on the purple, black, and white every weekend – a record-breaking number for our Minis and Youth section. The energy on Sunday mornings is infectious, with 20+ teams in action across all age groups. Our future Nure stars are developing not just as players but as teammates, leaders, and friends.
A particular highlight has been the massive growth of girls’ rugby throughout the club, spearheaded by none other than club legend Emerson Devlin. Under Emerson’s leadership and vision, our girls’ programme has expanded rapidly, welcoming record numbers at all ages and building competitive, confident squads who are thriving in a supportive and inspiring environment. Their passion and success are paving the way for a bright and inclusive future.
This year also saw two unforgettable tours that showcased the spirit of Terenure rugby.
Our U9s travelled to Cork Constitution in what was a brilliant weekend of rugby, friendship, and fun, while our U12's embarked on a phenomenal tour to Parma, Italy, proudly representing the club internationally. Successful trips like these don’t happen by accident – they require enormous planning and, crucially, significant financial support from some key figures within the club. To those generous supporters, your contributions have created lifelong memories for our young players, and we are deeply grateful.
Team of the Year Spotlight: The Unbeaten U16's: One group deserves a special mention for a truly historic season. Our U16's squad went unbeaten all year, claiming a Premier League and Cup Double, including the coveted Plums Metro Cup. Their skill, commitment, and relentless teamwork have set a new standard of excellence for the club. The U16's success is a testament to brilliant coaching, player dedication, and the incredible support from families and the wider club community. They have not just won trophies – they have inspired a new generation of Nure players.

Across all age grades, the results have been outstanding: the U13's lifted the Metro Cup, the U15's reached a provincial semi-final, and the U18.5's squad secured a famous victory over long-standing rivals. But beyond silverware, it’s the smiles on faces, the friendships formed, and the love of rugby that truly measure our success.
None of this would be possible without our phenomenal volunteer army.
Over 80 dedicated coaches and mentors have given countless hours to ensure every child learns, plays, and thrives in a safe and fun environment. From setting up pitches at sunrise to organising blitzes, their passion and commitment are second to none.
A heartfelt thanks goes to some of our outstanding volunteers – John Keating, Luke O’Kelly, Evan Brady, Katie Lynagh, Robert Slattery, and Nikolai Ruane – along with all the other tireless coordinators, team managers, and coaches who make this programme so special.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Terenure College for their ongoing support. Their generosity with pitch access and additional accommodation when things get busy has been vital in helping us manage the incredible growth of our Minis and Youth programme. That partnership ensures every team has the opportunity to play and train to the highest standard.
A huge thank you also to our parents, supporters, and club partners, who have stood on touchlines in sun and rain, cheered every try, and helped foster the incredible community spirit that makes Terenure College RFC so special.
As Chair of Mini & Youth Rugby, I could not be prouder of what we have achieved together this year. With the talent coming through, the incredible expansion of girls’ rugby, and the unwavering dedication of our volunteers and supporters, the future of rugby in Lakelands Park has never looked brighter.
Here’s to another year of growth, joy, and purple pride!
