Great progress is being made in Lakelands, by builder Elenfield Contractors since they commenced construction on the 23rd June 2025.
The photo above is the front bar which will now open out towards the pitch and it shows the scale of work upgrading every aspect of the old building. We are now into the seventh week of the contract with 99% of the strip out and demolition work complete including the strip out of mechanical and electrical services. Works are commencing on window openings and new external walls and new drainage system in coming weeks along with new sub floors to the bar and ball room.
The entire clubhouse, excluding the two dressing rooms built in 2013, is now a totally fenced off building site, and is no longer accessable.
The main contractor Elenfield Contractors is currently projecting the completion of the dressing room section of the new development for December 25 and the completion of the new bar and function room by start of February 26 (albeit some bar related ancillary rooms fall into phase 2). The contractor is projecting the completion of the Gym / Coffee Shop phase 2 element by the middle of summer 2026.

Obviously with the clubhouse out of action, it will have a huge impact on operations for next season and the Management Committee will update members separately in August.
In relation to fundraising, we have raised €393,000 of our €420,000 IIP expenses target so we still have €27,000 to raise to cover our IIP expenses. There are 18 unsold bricks of our agreed maximum of 400 bricks so there are only 18 places left to 'engrave your name in the history of Terenure College RFC'. The wall will be located on the wall inside the gate to the left as you enter Lakelands and approach the lobby.
In relation to the Development Budget, we have received €2.4m of our €2.8m from IIP donors; we have been allocated €120k from the Sports Capital Equipment Programme (Lotto) and €65k by the IRFU from their Inclusive Facilities fund. The budget is going to be in the order of €3.15m so we still have a likely funding gap of c. €175,000. (Lots of numbers here but it's important that members and donors understand the scale of what we are doing!)
In summary, lots done and more to do....
