Another action-packed weekend for Terenure RFCs youth teams, with plenty to celebrate and some hard-fought lessons learned along the way. Here’s the roundup;
Youth Girls U16 - Vipers
Athy RFC 35 - 17 Terenure College RFC
The Vipers faced their first loss of the season on Saturday against a well-organized Athy side. Despite a valiant effort and matching Athy’s intensity, the girls were unable to overturn the result. However, the Vipers can hold their heads high as the’ve already secured a spot in the Division 1 semi-finals, a huge achievement!
Onwards and upwards, Vipers!
Youth Girls U18 - Panthers
Clontarf RFC 12 - 50 Terenure College RFC
The Panthers continued their dominant form with a commanding win away to Clontarf, making it three victories on the bounce against Tarf. This result secured their place in the semi-finals with one game still to play.
Special mention goes to Aina Fernandez, whose stellar performance earned her a Leinster U18 Girls trial, adding to her impressive season so far. Well done, Panthers!
Youth Boys U15 - Terys
It was an international affair for the U15s as they hosted Torrelodones RFC from Madrid on Saturday. Although the result did'nt favour our lads, the match showcased exceptional rugby from both sides. Bonds of friendship were formed on and off the pitch, epitomizing the spirit of the game.
A big thank you to Paul Kelly and his coaching team for ensuring this fixture went ahead despite challenging weather. Touring teams are a cornerstone of rugby, and Terenures hospitality was in full flow.
Youth Boys U16
On Sunday, the U16 Boys hosted Donau RFC from Vienna, a club with close ties to Terenure RFC. The lads put on a fantastic display and secured a decisive win.
Special thanks to Mr. Pat McCabe, who went above and beyond with the post-match spread for both teams. The Donau contingent were excellent guests, and the connection between the clubs continues to thrive.
Youth Boys U13
Terenure College RFC 26 - 14 Skerries RFC
In the Division 1 quarter-final, the U13 boys delivered a huge win in what can only be described as horrendous conditions. Both teams demonstrated remarkable skill and resilience, but Terenure used the elements to their advantage early on, building a strong lead.
Despite a spirited comeback from Skerries, the lads managed the final minutes brilliantly, showcasing maturity beyond their years. They now look ahead to a thrilling semi-final in Coolmine next week.
Final Thoughts
It’s been a phenomenal weekend of rugby for Terenure RFC’s Youth teams, filled with challenges, triumphs, and camaraderie.
Onwards, Terenure!
